Stiff back mornings? Try this simple sequence from bed

Ever wake up feeling like you need to crack and pop everything before you can even think about getting out of bed? You're not alone!

That stiff, achy feeling first thing in the morning is so common - but the good news is there's something simple you can do about it, before you even get out of bed.

Here’s a gentle mini-sequence to get your spine moving (no equipment needed!):

  1. Lying on your back, bend your knees with your feet flat on the bed.

  2. Rock your knees from side to side - keep moving until you feel a little “warmed up”.

  3. Add in your arms! Whichever way your knees drop to, reach your arms in the opposite direction. For example: both knees to the left, both arms to the right. Reverse and repeat!

Why does slow and easy work best first thing? Your body has been still for hours, so gentle movement helps warm up your muscles and joints gradually. Think of it like starting your morning cuppa: you don't gulp it right away... you sip slowly to make sure you aren't going to burn your taste buds off.

This simple sequence gets your blood flowing and your spine moving before you even get vertical. Give it a try tomorrow morning!
