Core: Without Crunches
When you hear "core workout," do you immediately think of lying on the floor doing endless crunches?
That’s not how we do it at Club Nest! Here we know that your core is so much more than just your "abs."
It's all the muscles that support your back, hips, and pelvis. These are the muscles that help you carry groceries, play with grandkids, twist to reach something, and stay steady on your feet. That's why strengthening your core is about supporting your everyday life - not getting a six-pack!
OK, I think you already know that I love squats for building that core strength around your hips (super important!) and that if they hurt your knees, just make them mini squats instead - they still count!
But here's a nice, simple, gentle but effective move that you can do while standing up, or even sitting in a chair:
👉 Sitting or standing up tall, hands behind your head, elbows out wide
👉 Side bend from side to side - 10 each way
👉 Give your arms a little shake out
👉 Back to that same starting position - hands behind your head, elbows out wide
👉This time, twist from side to side - 10 each way
This is a great way to work your core and all of the little muscles along your spine.
Exercise doesn't have to be hard core to be effective - what you really need is lots of little bits over time, especially if you are a woman over 50.
Keep up the great work, and remember - every little bit of movement counts!
